Why go to CHIC?

A Make and Deepen Disciples event, CHIC is the one event that brings students from all around the Evangelical Covenant Church together for a week of faith, worship, transformation, and fun. CHIC is a catalyst for Christ-like change. It challenges students to see themselves as part of something bigger, while calling them to a deeper relationship with Christ.

A Typical Day

One of the most important thing we can do for parents is to give them a clear picture of what their son or daughter will be doing each day at CHIC.

7:00 AM—9:00 AM Breakfast
Meals are provided as part of your registration fee. The first meal to be served is Sunday dinner and the last will be dinner on Thursday, for a total of 13 meals. Your youth group will be assigned a cafeteria based on your housing location at the University of Tennessee, along with other youth groups from your conference. There are also numerous locations throughout the campus and meeting venues where snacks can be purchased at students’ own expense.

9:30 AM—12:30 PM Base Camps
Each morning students will attend one of our Base Camps where they will participate in hands-on learning experiences and hear from outstanding speakers. Your group, along with the other groups housed in your dorm, will attend the same Base Camp experiences together throughout the week.

12:30—2:00 PM Lunch
All lunches are served picnic-style and can be picked up at one of two outdoor locations.

12:30 PM—5:00 PM Afternoon Options
During the afternoon, students have a variety of options. They may choose to go on an excursion together as a youth group, such as white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, and more. Swimming, sports, and a variety of activities are available during the afternoons.

5:00 PM—7:00 PM Dinner
Dinner takes place in your assigned cafeteria.

8:00 PM—MainStage
MainStage is the time when every CHIC participant gathers together to hear incredible bands, worship together, and hear from some of the best communicators in the world. MainStage is often the highlight for our students as they experience an arena full of their peers worshiping Jesus and learning how to dive deeper in their faith together.

Following MainStage Small Groups
Small groups start right after MainStage and provide a safe environment for students to process their experience at CHIC.

12:00 AM—In Dorms
12:30 AM—Lights Out

Travel details

How groups get to CHIC varies from church to church.

Cost

For the actual event CHIC costs approximately $600. In addition, there are transportation costs and excursion costs. The actual cost of housing and food for a week on the campus of UT is $450. The other $150–$200 goes into programing—well-known bands, talented speakers, security, Base Camp experiences, etc.

Cost is the single biggest obstacle for many students wanting to attend CHIC. Here are some fundraising tips.

Excursions

The youth worker at your church can sign up the entire group for an excursion together and include that cost in the total amount due, or you may choose to leave it up to your students to sign up individually.
