Joseph Sojourner

CHIC-speaker-photo-joseph

"Growing up in Akron, Ohio, I would have never dreamed that my life would look the way it does today. I was the typical quiet kid who found his freedom in writing... I often wrote about my dream of moving to New York or Los Angeles for a fresh start. I began experimenting with acting, script writing, and hip hop in college and was invited to Atlanta for a rap show after a summer of quasi-successful performances throughout Ohio. This was big deal! The big city was finally calling! I later realized it wasn’t, but maybe God was. Maybe God was leading me to Atlanta. I packed up and decided it was now or never... I discovered that I found deep fulfillment in helping people. I was later asked to work at my church and I accepted. It was there that I found that creating is best when paired with great purpose... I now create to connect people to purpose through messages, music, media, and anything else I can get my hands on. I may have been born Sojourner, but I’ve learned that everyone can ‘Journey Well’."

Kings Kaleidoscope has a history of breaking convention. The band first met at church, reimagining hymns and ecclesial melodies. But what started under lofted ceilings soon broke through, reaching the ready ears of crowds and critics. Five EPs and two critically-acclaimed LPs later (both landing in the top 10 on Billboard's gospel chart), King's continues to reinvent their medium. Genre-bending rhythms, bold arrangements, and soaring melodies underscore the diverse influences within the band. Chad Gardner leads the collective of friends; up to ten members strong, and all hands stretch the canvas until it sings. Their latest project, “The Beauty Between,” is another transformation, but what remains true—and what resonates with fans—is the creative core: an honest expression of the ache, love, and color of a life redeemed.
